This Winter, the Arizona Repertory Singers return for the Season of Wonder, performing a collection of sacred and secular music for the holidays. The program for its 43rd season features two works by Norwegian composers, Ola Gjeilo and Øran Matre, and contemporary arrangements of holiday classics, such as Sleigh Ride and O Holy Night. Yoni Fogelman’s The Everlasting Flame is a serene candle-lighting blessing composed for Hanukkah, and Sizalewe Indodana, a South African Christmas song whose title translates to “Unto Us a Child Is Born,” features an a cappella arrangement and call-and-response sections. As always, a string quartet will be featured on several pieces, like Mark Hayes’s arrangement of I’ll Be Home for Christmas and Eric Whitacre’s Glow, the latter being composed for Disneyland’s World of Color showcase in 2013.
