2020 Spring Concerts: Songs of Unity Cancelled

Be reminded of the many ways human nature brings the world together through faith, earth, love, music, and celebration. You’ll hear Vaughan Williams’ The Turtle Dove, selections from Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes, a contemporary version of a traditional South African Xhosa song and a great arrangement of Dolly Parton’s anthem, Light of a Clear Blue Morning.

Music Director Ryan Phillips describes the April 2020 concerts as an “exploration of the relationship we have with one another and our world, including connections through faith, music and love. Audiences will hear classics by Purcell, Brahms, Finzi, and Vaughn Williams alongside the work of William Billings, a mid-20th century American spiritual, a traditional South African Xhosa song, a Basque hymn, and a great arrangement of an anthem by Dolly Parton.” Dolly Parton? Really? “Yes – you ‘heard’ that right,” Phillips says. “It’s going to be a fun and beautiful year of music at ARS concerts.”
