How Can We Keep From Singing?
3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19th
Catalina Methodist Church
2700 E. Speedway Blvd.
The Arizona Repertory Singers presented one memorial Tribute Concert honoring the late Dr. Jeffry A. Jahn. How Can We Keep From Singing? included a retrospective of his favorite choral works performed by ARS over the last 25 years that reflected why “life is a song that must be sung.”
The concert was presented free to the public as a gift to Tucson, honoring Dr. Jahn’s belief that “ARS sings for the public, not for themselves.” There was a reception immediately following the concert for the public to share their fond memories of Jeffry Jahn and his lasting influence on the musical arts community in Tucson.
In a Proclamation by the City of Tucson, Mayor Jonathan Rothchild named April 19, 2015 as Dr Jeffry A. Jahn and Arizona Repertory Singers Day, which was read at the concert by his Arts and Culture Representative. The document encourages “all of our citizens to support the Arizona Repertory Singers and appreciate the late Dr. Jeffry A. Jahn for his exemplary artistic guidance.”
ARS performed for a ‘full house’ of 475 people. Watch the tribute video below, ‘The Art of Jeffry Jahn’ by Daniel Buckley.
